Fairytales come alive in Kirsty Mitchell's Wonderland
In her series "Wonderland" Kirsty Mitchell takes us on enchanting excursion in to visual world of Alice in Wonderland'esque fairytale imagery. Visual journey takes us together with mysterious characters from the fields of lavender to dramatic forest and through the seasons from blooming summer to snowy winter. (Can it be that season mystique is used as an allegory to birth, life, death and eventually rebirth)?
You just feel like following the woman wearing fairy wings and see what fantasy world she would open for you next and what lies beyond the horizon of flower carpeted fields.
Kirsty started this project in 2009 as a tribute to her passed Mother, an English teacher who loved reading, and shared that love with others.
In 2012 Kirsty Mitchell was awarded "Framed" award for best conceptual photography. You can follow Kirsty Mitchell's journey here.
