Ordinary "stucco box" gets second life as an airy modern residence

San Diego based Christian Rice Architects were commissioned to transform 2 story ordinary boxy home in to open space contemporary residence.
We like the indoor-outdoor transitions from the living room with creative glass garage door integration. Wall mural ads some playfulness to the otherwise boring perimeter fences so typical in cramped SoCal metro areas.
To take full advantage of friendly California climate, besides opening spaces to the outside - steel balcony, covered porch and backyard pool were added.
Symmetry of window openings against exterior textures, selected color combinations and lofty but soft feel of the interior - makes this project one of our favorite in its tasteful simplicity.
